Roosevelt Rumors: Juvenile Justice Center Proposal

David Brumbaugh (OK House District 76 Rep.) and John Wright (Tulsa County Assessor’s Office Director) contacted me on August 18th to arrange a meeting so that we could discuss a proposed plan for the Roosevelt Elementary School building.

Spencer Hellman (OPNA Vice President) and I attended the meeting together. During our conversation, Brumbaugh and Wright expressed their desire to have Roosevelt become the next “home” for the Juvenile Justice Center. We  explained that residents of Owen Park Neighborhood would likely resist such a plan, due to a potentially negative impact on the neighborhood.

To ensure that all Owen Park homeowners are fairly represented, and to allow for open discussion, we requested that the duo present their proposal at Owen Park’s next general meeting, Monday, September 12th.

We request that you please attend this general meeting to discuss the proposal.  It is very important that they hear your feedback, both positive and negative as they will rely upon it to inform their decisions going forward.   We want this meeting to be beneficial to all parties so please come prepared to asked questions and provide comments.

Please feel free to contact me with comments, questions or concerns. Call 405-466-5680 or send me an email at
